GLA Community Committee
Our school needs community members to join our Community Committee (CC) The information about the CC can be seen below.
A new remit in 4 parts:
Community Committee Champion Roles:
In addition to the Head Teacher, the composition of the CC within each school will be:

The Committee Overview:
- The term of office for all Champions will be 3 years except for parents who will be required to step down when their child leaves the school. The Chair will be elected from/ by the Community Committee and will be invited to attend Academy Improvement Board meetings with Senior Leaders.
- The committee will meet 3 times per year (Aut/Spri/Sum)
- All committee members will need to complete safeguarding training, level 1 as a minimum and will need to have DBS clearance
- Role overview - Champions will undertake school visits & activities in line with their role – e.g. pupil champions will work with the Head to undertake pupil voice activities to understand the ‘lived experience’ for children in our schools – at least two visits each year. A very short report format will need to be completed after each visit/ activity. This will be shared at the next committee meeting.
- Those champions that are interested, may also attend training to enable them to join panels for exclusions or disciplinary and conduct issues.
Training and support:
- GLA induction session – x2 hours in-person – 4-6pm at Rowanfield Junior School GL51 8HY
- x3 committee meetings per year – 6-8pm in the individual schools
- x3 training sessions linked to the champion role – x2 in-person; x1 via Teams
- Opportunities for networking and partnership with champions in other GLA schools
- Optional – training for panels
